Environment and energy efficiency
Code For Sustainable Homes
At Explore Living, environmentally friendly living isn’t simply a phrase of the month: it’s a core value that’s built into all our homes.
The proof is in the building
Before a single brick is laid, our developments go through rigorous assessment.
This independently verified programme looks at the broad environmental concerns of climate change, resource use and impact on wildlife. It then balances these with the need for a high quality of life and a safe and healthy internal environment.
Protecting the local environment
Protecting trees. Giving homes to nesting birds. Carrying out wildlife surveys. Remediating contaminated soil.
Our developments are put through an Environmental Impact Assessment, which looks at the possible environmental effects of a development before it starts.
And the positive results are there for everyone to see.
Energy efficiency – what we’re doing
The obvious comes as standard – such as dual flush cisterns, low energy lightbulbs, flow restrictors on taps and high levels of insulation.
What you might not expect are innovations such as solar-powered water heating provided by solar collectors that sit on the roof and absorb radiation from the sun, resulting in lower bills.
We’re also investing in and testing heat recovery ventilation units and solar voltaic systems. The result? Eco-friendly homes with lower energy bills as standard
Built and specified with the planet in mind
We make two very simple commitments. First of all, the timber in your new home comes from sustainable managed forests. And, where possible, the appliances we install have the highest UK energy rating certificate.
Anything less simply won’t do.
